My Language Arts class is an intensive, direct-instruction model designed to improve students' reading fluency (speed and accuracy), reading comprehension (understanding of the written word), and writing skills (ability to present written work that is clear, well-organized, and with proper conventions, such as spelling, grammar, and punctuation).  We practice these skills every day, and in a very focused way.
